SM 14.2 logs showing older version number to version installed

Hi there,
 
Just have a quick question about the server logs. When investigating an issue why some of our contacts emails were bouncing (related to the SPF issue that Bruce Barnes is currently looking into) I have noticed that the logs state that the version of SM is 'Smartermail 13.1.5451' yet we are running the latest enterprise version (14.2).
 
Not really a problem, but wondered if this was just an oversight in v14 update not reporting the latest installed version?

Dave, specifically which logs are reporting the incorrect version?

Hi Robert, I generally only browse the Delivery and STMP logs to see why email has failed to be sent or received and it's only the SMTP that I have see this appear...like this..

Dave, under System Admin | Settings | Protocol Settings, what value do you have set in the SMTP Banner?

The information you are seeing in your SMTP logs is pulled from the SMTP BANNER settings in SmarterMail.
 
This is NOT automatically updated when you update SmarterMail.
 
The #HostName# should be left in so the rDNS works properly with your hosted accounts.
 
The #TimeUTC# should be left in place to ensure that you are always using a standard time reference, no matter where a message is sent to, or arrives from.
 
The rest of the field is freeform, and we always update both our own SmarterMail, as well as the SmarterMail clients for whom we provide maintenance services, with the most recent SmarterMail version.  This helps us with any troubleshooting issues which might present themselves as we can go back and see if an issue was introduced by, or resolved by, a newer or older build of SmarterMail.

Hi Robert, the banner value was set to a previous version so I have now updated this to show the correct version (14.2.5711) and its working fine. I didn't realise this wasn't updated when newer versions were released so at least I know why there was a discrepancy :)
