New (old) Feature - Strip formatting of Text
Idea shared by Curtis Kropar www.HawaiianHope.org - 7/3/2015 at 9:35 PM
Completed
Hi

I used to use a program for email called Eudora, There was a feature in it that when you were editing the text and typing an email, you could click a button and it would strip all of the formatting, everything, from the text. And i mean everything, no <p>'s nothing. plain "TXT"

I REALLY miss that. I would like to see that feature in SmarterMail.

I hate having to have notepad open all of the time so i can copy and paste stuff into it, then paste it into smarter mail, or if i am responding to someone and i start typing and the end of one of their lines, and all of a sudden it is typing in some microfont.  Or even i have noticed that i will format a new email the way i want, and then move to the end of a sentence and start typing, it instead ignores the formatting i defined and switches to some other font style. Auto Bullets, massive fonts, etc..  All of that fancy stuff only a distraction to the message your trying to compose..

Click It - Strip It !

Then after it is done format it the way you want.

Another variation of this could be to click the button and then it auto strips any formatting you paste in as long as the button is on. this would eliminate the need for notepad as a middle stage.

Thank you !

Some browsers already allow you to right-click and paste as plain text into an e-mail message composition window.

For those browsers which do not support the right click and paste as plain text feature, the solution is already available in the SmarterMail web interface.  Just expand the menu interface via the MORE button:

SmarterMail Basic Menu Interface
SmarterMail Basic Menu Interface
and it will turn into this:

SmarterMail Expanded Web Interface Menu
SmarterMail Expanded Web Interface Menu
The three PASTE AS buttons are as follows:

Expanded SmarterMail Web Interface Compose Menu with PASTE AS Selections Highlighted
Expanded SmarterMail Web Interface Compose Menu with PASTE AS Selections Highlighted
Hope this helps.

Thanks Bruce
I rarely turn on that more feature. I think in SM 13 you had to turn it on every time you wanted it. I just tested it in 14 and it seems to stay on all the time
