Domain diskspace notification - email user not admin
Question asked by Paul Hopkinson - 6/25/2015 at 6:57 AM

Hello all..

Using SmarterMail 13.x

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set a notification profile which will email all users of a domain if the overall domain limit is reached (or at 90% of max).
Currently we get a notification -pop up- when admin logs in, but I would like SM to email all users of a particular domain should the total domain space be 90% full.

Logged in as admin and have tried to go 'events' new event:
Category 'domain', Type, 'domain diskspace used' Percent = 90%
Actions: Send email from address _admin_@#domain#
Send to address: #user#@#domain#

But it doesn't work. I can't see how I would be able to get it to email all users of the oversize domain but not the admin.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Hello Paul.  #user# is not an available variable when setting up a Domain Event.  You could set up an alias containing all users of the domain, and then have this Domain Event send there, which would then forward to all domain users.

Also, in the Domain Events condition, I would use 'Greater than 90%' instead of '=90%'.  If your domain had a sudden influx of messages and your total domain size went from 89% to 91%, this Domain Event would not be triggered.

Hope this helps.

That would send the users overage email to all users, not sure that's a solution. If there is no functionality within Smartermail to handle this then why not make it a feature request? All to often feature requests go unannounced.

Steve: OP specifically asked how to email ALL users on the domain:

"I would like SM to email all users of a particular domain should the total domain space be 90% full."
