I believe that better Active Directory integration is a key feature that would open Smartermail towards new customers seeking a very good and relatively cheap alternative for Exchange Server.
Some features that should be developed (in AD integration mode):
1. Possibility to password change from web interface
2. Password change prompt for expiring passwords
3. Sync for all user attributes
Personally I would love to see this features in Smartermail :)
