Deleted user still shows in global address list
Problem reported by Hugo Braz - 5/29/2015 at 3:42 AM
Not A Problem
Hello,

I have smarter mail Enterprise version 13.4 .
I have a user that was disabled, and a few days later was deleted.
This user contact now still shows up in the global address list and i can't deleted with administration user.

I tried to create the same user but a warning says that the user already in use.
So smarter mail didnt completly deleted the user.

Any way to clear this info from the system or correct it ?

Thanks in advance .

Hugo, in the domain folder can you verify that the username has been removed from the accountList.xml and that the username folder has been removed from the Users folder within the domain folder?

Remove the username from the accountList.xml. You may need to restart your SmarterMail service, but then it should go away.

This is resolved .

Is this a "bug" or already known issue that we could expect often?

Hugo, we're going to chalk to up to a one time occurrence unless it has happened on multiple occasions for you.  The accountList.xml file may have had a writing lock which prevented the SmarterMail service from removing the username.

Obviously, if this situation occurs again, we will look further into.  At this time, I'm marking this as Not a Problem.

So there is no validation between the contents of accountList.xml and the folders on the filesystem?

If there was a writing lock, the system should not have allowed the removal of the user otherwise you'll end up with orphans

Seems like a problem to me?

If Smartermail encounters a file that cannot be accessed then does that appear in the log? It seems like this issue needs more troubleshooting.

Also it would be nice if Smartermail detected these types of issues and attemps at a later time to write in the info again.
