How to eliminate China from reports
Question asked by Jonathan Rubin - 5/11/2015 at 8:14 AM
Unanswered
We are trying out SmarterTrack and are currently receiving over 400,000 page views a week from China.  I would like to eliminate all statistics at all levels from all reports.  Since I am new to this a simple explanation with an example would be very much appreciated. BTW, I do not want to eliminate the logging of these hits.  Thank You

Are you servicing anyone in China? If not, you could simply block all IP's sourcing from China.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. We are not servicing anyone in China, however, our firewall, Sonicwall does not allow us a simply way to block a countries IP's. It requires specific IP's and ranges to block. Unfortunately, we are unable to simply check a box!

SonicWall has Geo-Based filtering:

Thank Brian... However our TZ-200 does not support this... It need a minimum of a TZ-210 :(

You can do it via Windows Firewall:

Script:

IP List:

HTH =)

 Brian,  Thank you for taking the time with this.... I will try this.  Is there no way to simply exclude the Chinese IP's from the reports?  Thanks

The best way to handle China is to block them at your firewall. We use an older IBM server running Pfsense and it has been wonderful. There's an addon package called PfBlocker that allows entire country blocking.
our network traffic is normally light, so the Chinese stats were skewing everything. And while we were at it we blocked Russia too.
