Having worked with several CRM packages you need to first write down what you want to achieve out of the package. Then decide on a budget. After you have that information do some searches and rate the pro/con of each package and which one you personally feel will grow best for your needs.

I just chose a CRM system for my company and my three primary deciding factors were 1)ability to integrate with web forms and an emailing system, 2) price 3) ease of use. I also looked for a system that I could extract most of the data out if I wanted to change at some point. IMO a lot of the systems have similar features and having not really used a full blown CRM before, I couldn't figure out what was important and what wasn't. I knew the primary shortfalls in my sales process that I was trying to fix and the solution I picked has done that nicely.
